After tragically losing my GWHP, I admired Hungarian Vizslak having seen them in my line of work as a vet. My first Vizsla was Henna (Velisters Carisma at Ulurudawn), who joined my family early in 2003 and since then I have never looked back. Being a vet I wished to experience breeding a litter of pups for myself so that I could improve my knowledge in a professional capacity. From this first litter I kept Ochre (Ulurudwn Clipper). Henna was an exceptional working dog,an amazing hunter in the field and she was my constant companion on shoots.

Sadly Ochre wasn't so keen and when my partner Philippa suggested she was very pretty, we fell into showing in 2008. Remarkably, despite being novices, Ochre excelled and gained her studbook number and was placed at Crufts twice, having competed there only on four occasions.

Ochre had a single litter from which we kept Ruban (Ch. Ulurudawn Cardinal Marker). He works regularly throughout the shooting season and is a phenomenal dog, we learnt so much together.

At less than 3 years old, Ruban was awarded his Studbook Number in 2013, this gives him lifetime qualification for Crufts, sadly he is unable to go due to being legally docked for working. After winning DCC & BOB at Gundog Society of Wales 2014. He gained Reserve Best of Sex at Bournemouth in 2012. Since then he has gone on to win 5 CCs, 2 BOB and 2RCC. In November 2018 he was awarded his Show Gundog Working Certificate at a field trial which meant he was "upgraded" from Show Champion to full Champion.

In 2017, Ruban's daughter, Russetmantle Compass Rose of Ulurudawn (Ch Ulurudawn Cardinal Marker x Daxpack Ruby of Russetmantle) joined the family and she also is proving herself in the ring. She was from the first litter bred by Sue Gottlieb, the daughter of the well known Vizsla guru, the late Gay Gottlieb. We were honoured to be asked to use Ruban as the stud on the first Russetmantle litter in many years.

In 2020, Ruban's son, Roughshoot Overboard of ulurudawn (Ch Ulurudawn Cardinal Marker x Hubertus Hungaricum Allegra of Roughshoot) joined team Ulurudawn and he is yet to be shown as he was only born in November 2019 but we sincerely hope he will follow in the successful paw prints of his sire.

We hope to see you again! Check back later for new updates to our website. There's much more to come!
